A FAM nasceu em outubro de 2020, como fundação privada de base familiar sem fins lucrativos, criada por Ana Mendonça em homenagem ao seu pai Pedro Mendonça e às suas maiores paixões: o mar e as pessoas.

Pedro Mendonça era um amante do mar e da vela, mas acima de tudo era um homem de causas e de ação onde o mais importante na vida eram sempre as pessoas.

Isabel Silva

Experience

Isabel Silva completed her undergraduate studies in Biology at the University of Aveiro, in 2016. Her keen interest in microbiology led her to pursue a master’s degree in the same field at the University of Aveiro. Her master’s thesis focused on the concerning issue
of anthropogenic contaminants, like metals, potentially contributing to the spread of antibiotic resistance in the environment. Throughout her academic career, Isabel Silva contributions to science have been recognized with several awards and distinctions.

  • 2023 | Invitation to co-chairthe antibiotic resistance session at the 10 th Congress of EuropeanMicrobiologists (Hamburg, Germany).

  • 2024 | Two awards, the "Prize Fluviário 2023 – Young Scientist of the Year"promoted by the municipality and Fluviário of Mora, and the “UC-Life Sciences – Biology Award” from the Department of Life Sciences (University of Coimbra).

FAM  Fellowship

Isabel Silva interest in understanding the complexities of antibiotic resistance, throught the Coimbra University | Macroalgae and Halophytes approach to tackle antibiotic resistance project,  continued to shape Isabel´s academic journey during her doctoral studies, now at the University of Coimbra.
